Beside presidents such as Theodore Roosevelt and Woodrow Wilson, she was the most prominent[1] reformer of the Progressive Era and helped turn the farming to issues of concern to mothers, such as the needs of children, public health and world peace. She emphasized that women have a special tariff to clean up their communities and make them better places to live, arguing they requisite the vote to be effective. Addams became a role model for lower-middle-class women who volunteered to uplift their communities. She is increasingly being recognized as a member of the American pragmatist school of philosophy]In 1931 she became the first American woman to be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. American Equal Rights Association- Lucy Stone and Susan B. Anthony proposed the caprice at an American Anti-Slavery fraternity meeting in capital of Massachusetts in January 1866.



Stone had been involved with abolitionism through the American Anti-Slavery Society for 18 years, and had shifted her energies mainly to womens rights issues. Anthonys focus was primarily womens suffrage. The goal was to tie the energies of the two movements and focus on the common goal of common suffrage. Anthony, Stone, Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Frederick Douglass founded the group. Three weeks prior to the first AERA meeting, on May 10, 1866 in New York City, the eleventh National Womens Rights Convention was called to order by Stanton.
