Monograph Analysis
The purpose of this appointment is to allow you to act as a historian, confront a secondary document relating to U.S. history and contextualize. I hope that by doing this you will gain a better sense of how historians take a shit and also hold up the opportunity to explore a subject field of particular interest to you in greater depth.
Robert McMath, American Populism: A Social History, 1877-1898. ( forward-looking York: Hill and Wang, 1992)

In his book American Populism: A Social History, McMath examines the relationship between Populism and the economic and genial networks of rural communities, such as schools, churches, trade unions and fraternal organizations. discern a minimum of two but no more than than three of these social and/or economic networks and compare and argument their relationship with Populism. Which ones were the strongest, weakest, etc.

1. Your introduction should include a strong thesis statement that states your argument. Your argument should reflect what you have learned from the monograph and set up the rest of your essay.
2. An analysis of the social and economic networks. Some questions you might consider include: How were these networks create?
What was their relationship to Populism? How were they affected by Populist principles?
3. Link in concert your analysis of the networks. Be sure to tell not just now to accord their differences but what similarities they possessed as well.
4. Your conclusion should be a summary of your argument. Be sure to not give new information in your conclusion.
